Michaella qualified in Sports and Therapeutic Massage Therapist in 2010.
Her diplomas include Sport & Remedial and Sports Event Massage through the Scottish
Massage Schools. She is also qualified in Dry Needling, Reiki and holds HNC Complementary Therapies including Swedish, Hot Stones Massage and Reflexology.
Over the past five years Michaella has used her in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology to focus on individuals specific needs, and developed a holistic treatment approach viewing the body as a whole. This experience allows her to help a range of different people from families to professional athletes.
In 2011/2012 Michaella spent a year working in Canada where she worked with skiers in the winter and golfers in the summer as a sports massage therapist.
Returning home to Scotland in 2012, she was introduced to Dundee Chiropractic Clinic, where she worked for 10 months before travelling to New Zealand following ambitions.
Whilst in New Zealand Michaella worked alongside other Sports Therapists, Chiropractors,
Physiotherapists and Acupuncturists in a well established clinic in Queenstown. Here she gained an abundance of valuable experience that she now carries with her today.
Michaella perused her learning in New Zealand by completing Level 1& 2 Pain Management in Auckland in 2014. Complementing her existing techniques, acupuncture needles help to release trigger points, increase energy flow in meridians and contributes to decreasing pain in the muscular-skeletal structures. Michaella is one of very few professionals in Scotland proficient in Dry Needling.
active, running specifically, Michaella has completed numerous half marathons and is always training for something new. This helps Michaella relate to her patients and have a keen understanding of their injuries. Michaella’s treats a wide range of athletes from those just beginning extreme runners, cyclists, tri-athletes. This knowledge and thus requests for sports therapy has taken Michaella to treating the world champion All Blacks, Super 15 Australian, South African Rugby Teams and Scotland 7’s as well as commitments with Dundee High Rugby and Melrose 7’s.
Practicing Yoga herself for four years, Michaella decided it was time to complete her RYS 200hr Yoga Teacher Training in Bali, in September 2014 and is now registered with the Yoga Alliance. She teaches a traditional style of Hatha Yoga with an influence of Vinyasa Flow, that connects breath with movement.
This style of yoga offers a dynamic workout combining stretching and strengthening, improving range of motion and increasing energy levels.
Michaella incorporates her significant knowledge of anatomy and physiology well into the
Yoga Sessions to ensure an effective and safe practice is experienced.
